Overview

Quality Improvement (QI) has become an essential skill in order to transform healthcare delivery as well as medical education. Housestaff engage in QI starting during internship by developing the knowledge and processes to conduct effective QI, and then implementing those skills with real-world projects.  Housestaff are grouped by their Pod, and each group will be expected to identify and conduct their own QI project.

Learning modules are delivered through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).  Olive View residents can create a free account and access the courses through the IHI Open School.

  • Here’s how take the courses for free (you do not need a passcode). Go to the IHI open school website -> choose “Courses” -> “First-time visitors” -> click on the ORANGE button that says “Register for FREE and begin taking courses” for students, residents, and professors, then choose “Complete Access” -> when you are filling out your information, choose “Resident/Intern” as your primary role.
