Congratulations to our very own Dr. Salvador Hernandez for his recent important work on the prevalence of chronic comorbidities among people with Chagas Disease in Los Angeles. Dr. Hernandez works closely with the Center of Excellence for Chagas Disease (CECD) at Olive View and recently presented his findings at the American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene annual meeting in Maryland.

His findings highlight several common co-morbidities among patients with CD including hypertension, obesity, hyperlipidemia and diabetes, and point to the urgent need for comprehensive care and more proactive screening of patients with chronic Chagas disease.
