Teaching Points

Initial treatment for seizure: IV lorazepam 0.1mg/kg –> IV fosphenytoin –> sedation/intubation
Neurocysticercosis is caused by Taenia Solium
Spreads hematogenously to the brain, liver, muscle
Diagnosis: presentation+imaging. serum testing not reliable
Treatment: dexamethasone, albendazole, anti-epileptic
